Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking a full-time Quality Assurance RN Nurse to join our clinical team at our long-term care facility in Syracuse, NY .
\nJob Summary: The Quality Assurance RN plays a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of care provided to our residents. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring the facility’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, ensuring compliance with NYS Department of Health, CMS regulations, and industry best practices. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the QA RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote clinical excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
\n Key Responsibilities: \nMonitor nursing practices and provide feedback, coaching, and support to nursing staff to ensure adherence to quality standards.
\nParticipate in audits and analyze data from CASPER reports, PointRight, survey outcomes, and internal assessments to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
\nPrepare QAPI reports, contribute to monthly QA meeting minutes, and follow up on action plans.
\nSupport the Director of Nursing in coordinating and evaluating staff development and education programs.
\nAssist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote compliance and high-quality care.
\nMaintain accurate records for quality metrics, infection control, and wound care programs.
\nServe as a resource for clinical staff, providing guidance on best practices and regulatory requirements.
\nParticipate in state surveys and follow-up processes as needed.
\nFoster effective communication and collaboration among all departments to improve patient outcomes.
\nGraduate of an accredited RN program.
\nCurrent RN license in New York State .
\nBachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred; Master’s degree a plus.
\nCPR certification required.
\nExperience in long-term care, quality improvement, or nursing leadership strongly preferred.
\nKnowledge of infection control, wound care, emergency preparedness, and nursing compliance regulations.
\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
\nMust demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and high ethical standards.
\nAbility to move intermittently throughout the workday (sit, stand, bend, lift).
\nMust be emotionally stable and able to handle stress effectively.
\nAbility to lift supplies/equipment and tolerate exposure to common workplace substances, odors, or infectious materials.
