Description:
Futurewei is expanding leadership in creating innovative networking technologies for 6G wireless networks. We are seeking summer interns to focus on research into various aspects in end-to-end wireless network system architecture and services for 6G.


Responsibilities:
• The intern will focus on research into technologies for services and system architectures in 6G systems.
• The goal of the program will be to develop novel technologies for 6G standards.
• Research may utilize AI/ML and Optimization techniques in developing solutions for one or more areas such as: agentic AI, AI traffic characteristics, data plane and publish-subscribe architectures, finite state modeling and autonomous systems, or network QoS
• The intern will produce detailed technical reports/papers on specific standards technology tasks and work with the team to publish findings.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
• Completion of applicable graduate coursework in relevant fields within electrical/computer engineering and/or computer science. Doctoral or master's students in a research track in Electrical/Computer Engineering and/or Computer science are preferred.
• Candidate's previous research experience, knowledge, or experience in communication standards (e.g., 3GPP standards), distributed edge computing/communication publish-subscribe architectures, agentic AI, token-based communications, discrete event simulation modeling and related areas are strongly desired.
• Knowledge of 3GPP and/or state-of-the-art approaches for end-to-end security including zero trust network access is strongly desired.
• Proficiency with commercial programming/processing tools, e.g., Python, MATLAB, NS-3, discrete event simulators.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
